When to DRY on LOW HEAT

It seems we tend to dry most everything on HIGHT heat. Maybe this is just because we want it to be done as fast as possible. I understand this but there are definitely times in which HIGH heat is not best to use, in fact, it can be damaging to the very clothes we are trying to care for.

Read on to find out when it is best to use LOW HEAT:

  • Stretchy and athletic wear - Higher heats will damage these garments and make them lose their elasticity. In fact, the high heat can actually melt the clothing inside the dryer drum!

  • Polyester - These fabrics barely need drying at all since they do not absorb much water and oftentimes feel almost dry coming right out of the washer. High heat will ultimately destroy these fabrics, so it is best to stick with low heat.

  • Heavy KNITS vs Light Knits - Light knits can be dried on LOW HEAT but HEAVY Knits are best dried flat without the aid of a dryer. If in doubt with your favorite sweater, it is best to avoid drying and simply lay flat to air dry.
